PROJECT MILESTONE REACHED!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Squire Munro descendant count is now well past 1500! Actually, it's up to 1590 to be exact and should pass 1600 this weekend. This represents more than TRIPLE the number of descendants I had listed when I started this project in March 2006. Thanks to everyone who sent more names since the last newsletter.
SPREAD THE NEWS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Currently this newsletter is circulating to almost 60 members of the extended family. If you know other people who might be interested in hearing about my project - a sibling, parent or cousin - please forward this message to them. If they want to receive these newsletters directly, all they have to do is send me an email. I would love to hear from them.
OLD PHOTOS WANTED
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recently, one member of the extended family sent me a package of original old photographs. I am sorting and scanning them for my book and for my family history collection. They are beautiful treasures of Munro genealogical material and are a valuable asset. A special "thank you" to Catherine - who asked only that I donate them to the Elbridge Public Library's Historical Department when I am done scanning them. Among these photos exists the ONLY known photograph of one of Squire Munro's sons - David Munro (1784-1866) and another of his wife! The second known photo of his son, David Allen Munro is found among the collection with many other nice photos.
This led me to wonder what other old and rare photos other members of the family might have tucked away? So, I am asking everyone to consider taking a little time to look through your old munro family photos to search for other hidden treasures. If you find that you have photographs of interest, please let me know what you have so we can discuss your contributing them to the project.
If I am interested in a photo you have, you can either:
* Send me a high-resolution scan
* Loan me the original to scan.
* Make arrangements for me to visit and scan them myself (depending on where you live).
* You might also consider following Catherine's example by ultimately donating them to the Elbridge Historical Society who has a VERY impressive collection of Munro artifacts.
Please consider that the small amount of time you spend looking through your old photos might reveal something amazing that can be shared with numerous other people. I am primarily interested in ANY pre-1900 photographs, especially any of Squire's children or grandchildren.
DAVID MUNRO BRANCH ~ OIL PAINTINGS MISSING!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Squire's son David Munro (1784-1866) and his wife Abigail Carpenter (1790-1869) were depicted in oil portraits. These were last reported (by my great grandfather Philip Allen Munro) to be "in the home of Seymour S. Munro" in Syracuse sometime during the 1930s. Paintings of David's son, David Allen Munro (1818-1897) and his wife Mary Jane Hill (1815-1873) were also reported to be in "the house of Helen Munro Shove" in the 1930s. I have no idea of the current location of these paintings. I hope to find them and photograph them.
If you have any clues as to where these paintings may be now, please let me know. I need your help to find them!
See the growing list of artifacts I am trying to locate on this page of my site:

Do you know of other artifacts that might be interesting to my project? Let me know!
That's all for this newsletter. Until next time - Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
