The Squire Munro Project Newsletter
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Issue #6 Fall 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the newsletter for the Squire Munro Project — my attempt to compile a list of Squire Munro's descendants for eventual publication in a book.
This newsletter will keep you informed about my progress and circulate news and announcements to the extended family. Please feel free to forward it to any relatives who may be interested in receiving it. If you receive this email forwarded from a relative and would like to be added to my list, please email me. If for any reason you do not wish to receive future newsletters please let me know.
Descendant Update
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I started this project I had a list of about 500 names. Today, thanks to contributions of data from 27 different distant relatives, the count of listed descendant has reached an astonishing 2,025 names! Please continue to spread the word about my project to other family members who may be in touch with distant relatives with whom I have not yet corresponded.
Rhode Island Research Trip
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just returned from an entire week in Rhode Island and Massachusetts researching the four generations of Squire's ancestors who lived there. During my trip, I spent time at the Seekonk Public Library, the Rehoboth Public Library, the Rhode Island Historic Society Library and the Taunton Registry of Deeds. I also spent some time browsing a few used book stores. Although I brought back a good amount of material for further review, I am already planning another trip sometime next year to continue my research.
John Munro Cemetery Located!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Squire's grandfather - John Munro (1701-1793) - is buried in a small family cemetery located on the corner of Lake and Lincoln streets in Seekonk, MA. During my trip to Rhode Island, I visited and photographed this grave site. You can see John's grave stone on my artifacts page or clicking the link below.
