Below is the policy that will apply to any data that you contribute to this project. If you have any concerns and are hesitating to participate in this project, please contact me to discuss them. I want this project to be as complete as possible without compromising anyone’s comfort. This page discusses all the ways your information may be used and what, if any, filtering or limitations will be enforced before it is shared with others.
Private Information
Some information that you share will be considered private and will not be shared with anyone under any circumstances without your permission. This includes your phone number, email address and physical mailing address. These will be used only to communicate with you regarding this project.
Published Information
Some information that you share will be considered okay to share in printed form, e.g. in a printed book. This will include any names, dates, locations and genealogical facts & information that you contribute to the project, including people still living. This data may also be shared with other genealogists in the future.
Public Filtering
While I have NO PLANS to put any of this data on the internet or any other non-print public forum, there might be a circumstance in the future when I will want to do so. When sharing data in a “public” forum, such as on a website, the data for any living individual will be filtered to include only their first and middle initials and last name (“M.C. Munro” instead of “Mark Conway Munro”). All other information about the person, such as their birth date and place, will not be included in a public forum.
